Educational Activity Days

Our home base is in beautiful, leafy Paracombe in the Adelaide Hills, but our many and varied activities take place in a number of locations throughout the Hills region and Adelaide
metropolitan area. We also now have our new Program based at Para Hills centrally located in the Northern Suburbs. All enquires welcome

Every program is designed to be stimulating, rewarding, enjoyable and educational.

Environmental

Being based in the Adelaide Hills enables us to have easy access to the beautiful countryside where groups can engage in activities like:

  • Koala Watch Survey – spotting, identifying, recording and reporting for Government surveys
  • Forestry SA – plot clearing and removal of pine tree saplings
  • KESAB Waterwatch Snapshots – sampling, testing, recording and reporting for KESAB
  • Fire Safety Awareness
  • Snake Awareness.

Animal Care

The sheer joy and calming influence of animals is well known. Our Animal Care services enable groups to engage in a variety of activities including:

  • Bird watching
  • Preparing food and feeding animals as Friends of Gorge Wildlife Park
  • Learning Basic Pet Care

Creative Arts

Engaging the creative mind is stimulating, therapeutic and fun. Our Creative Arts services cover a wide range of group activities including:

  • Beading
  • Chat Books – a visual aid to help those with speech difficulties communicate
  • Crocheting
  • Decorating Frames and Boxes
  • Harvest – seasonal fruit picking
  • Knitting
  • Paper Crafts
  • Painting
  • Scrapbooking
  • Sewing
  • Tactile Boxes – multiple fabrics and textures for stimulation and education
  • Weaving
  • Origami.

Recreational

Relaxing and fun, our Recreational Services are designed to promote mental agility and physical dexterity as well as develop skills.

Activities include:

  • Board Games such as Snakes & Ladders, Draughts, etc.
  • Bocce
  • Bushwalks
  • Cooking, including camp cooking
  • Excursions to events such as the Tour Down Under, Royal Adelaide Show, etc.
  • Kite Flying
  • Massage – basic foot, neck and shoulder massage for relaxation
  • Make Up and Personal Care
  • Special Days – birthday celebrations and picnics
  • Swimming – indoors at Adelaide Aquatic
  • Centre or the RSB facilities at Holden Hill
  • Ten Pin Bowling at Salisbury Bowl
  • Walks – gentler and easier strolls around the grounds and surrounds of Paracombe.

Gardening

There is no better place to enjoy the beauty and hands-on fun in the garden than the Adelaide Hills. Groups enjoy a range of seasonal activities including:

  • Collecting Seeds – from the gardens and vegetable patches at Paracombe
  • Cooking with the Harvest
  • Fruit Picking
  • Planting, Pruning and Propagating
  • Soil Preparation
  • Watering and Weeding.
